We will connect all your standard computer items i.e. monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers and connect all your peripherals i.e. scanners, printers, digital cameras etc as well. We all store data on our computers whether it be letters, music or maybe a school assignment. However, as we know, computers are unpredictable and can fail us at any time. Our computers handle large amounts of data every day. Some of this data belongs to us i.e. our music, documents, pictures etc. The rest, however is created when we visit a website or install software. If we don’t clear these files periodically it not only can limit the amount of free space available but grind our systems to a halt making them virtually unusable.

Repairs
Throughout the time we own our PCs most of us will experience a component failure at sometime or another. Ever turned on your computer one morning to find that there’s no display on your monitor or it simply doesn’t turn on at all? Simply call and tell us what has happened and we’ll be out ASAP to fix your problem, ensuring your downtime is kept to a minimum.
Computer components provide different aspects of functionality to your computer. In extreme cases, depending on the age of your computer and the components which have failed, it may be more cost effective to purchase a new PC. If this is the case we will inform you straight away before commencing any repairs.

Tuition
SOCS is proud to offer a tuition service aimed mainly at SOHO users which endeavours to help them understand more about their computers and the ways in which they can be used to make everyday tasks easier.
Subjects covered under this tuition service include tasks such as copying data to CDs and DVDs, setting up user profiles and associated passwords, creating and organising Favourites in Internet browsers, transferring music from a PC to an iPod and setting up printers and scanners to name a few. Upgrades
As trends in technology change and programs require higher specifications, our PCs can become outdated very quickly. That does not necessarily mean that we all need to buy a new computer though. This is where SOCS’ upgrade service comes into play.

Virus and Spyware Removal
The world we live in is rampant with disease and infection. It’s the same for our computers. They are exposed to a world of computer viruses and spyware. Spyware is essentially “software which is installed on our computers without our knowledge or consent that transmits information about your computer activity over the Internet (Sourced from Google).” Much in the same way that we need to look after ourselves so as not to catch these viruses, we need to make sure our computers are looked after.
Many companies provide virus and spyware protection but there are only a few that do the job adequately. Without this protection our computers can become “sick” very quickly and before we know it these viruses seem to stop our computers from doing anything much in the same way we are limited when we have a virus.
To remedy this, SOCS offers a virus and spyware removal service. Through this service a combination of programs are installed which remove these objects from your computer and stop more from being let in. If the infection is considered extreme, removal of these items may not result in any increase of speed to your computer at all. Note that some viruses can be difficult to remove. In these instances and considering the time in which it takes to conduct these removal scans, it may be beneficial to conduct what is known as a system recovery.
Performing a system recovery involves backing up all your data to another computer or external HDD. Following this we reinstall your copy of Windows and the programs you frequently use along with adequate virus and spyware protection ensuring they are up-to-date. As the last step we copy your files back to your computer ensuring they have been scanned for viruses first to prevent infection from re-occurring. This essentially restores your computer to its factory default setting leaving you with a computer than runs like brand new. |
